Collaborating with All Things, Learning from Dwelling
Commissioned for SUSAS 2023, “Dwelling School” brought together rammed earth, timber, and a grassland black tent on the Huangpu River — a collaboration between “One University One Village,” Atelier Minghao & Jianjun, and Wuming Architecture, asking how we learn to dwell on a damaged planet.

Following the 2021 Shanghai Biennale, the “One University One Village” team was invited back by artists Cao Minghao and Chen Jianjun to contribute to their “Water School” project at documenta fifteen in Kassel — presenting new rammed-earth techniques born from post-disaster reconstruction.
“Water Refuge” — The “One University One Village” Women’s Construction Team at the Shanghai Biennale
At the 13th Shanghai Biennale in 2021, the “One University One Village” team brought their rammed-earth technology to the museum — collaborating with artists Cao Minghao and Chen Jianjun on “Water Refuge,” a pure earth wall built by the women’s construction team, which returned to the soil after the exhibition.
