Guangming Village Post-Earthquake Reconstruction Demonstration Project
After the 2014 Ludian earthquake destroyed most of Guangming Village’s traditional rammed-earth houses, this demonstration project rebuilt with an improved seismic rammed-earth system — a safe, comfortable, and affordable way for villagers to rebuild on their own.

Built on the Kunming University of Science and Technology campus, the Earth Building Workshop serves as a research base and artisan training center — 89% of its materials are local natural materials such as raw earth, gravel, and sand.
