Shui Tu Atelier
Shui Tu Atelier grew out of “One University One Village,” a rural sustainable development initiative founded at The Chinese University of Hong Kong by Professor Edward Ng and Dr. Wan Li. The initiative brings a university’s professional knowledge and people to the task of improving a village’s environment and livelihoods in a strategic, systematic, and sustainable way.
Shui Tu Atelier is an earth-building practice working toward sustainable rural and urban development, with a long-term focus on rammed-earth architecture, rural public buildings, farmhouse renewal, and regional building practice.
Through modern structural research, material experiments, and artisan training, we bring local materials, local techniques, and local builders back into contemporary construction.
